Why you must get your smear done now!

Posted on 8:17pm Wednesday 29th Jun 2011
Listed under: Health, Tips for mum

I've been feeling a little stressed and worried today and as I haven't written a blog in ages and it's been forever on my to do list I thought I'd blog about what's on my mind. Now usually I wouldn't get so personal in a blog but on this occasion I'm going to because as a woman, a mum and someone promoting good health through my business I feel it's the right thing to do and hopefully make some of you take action.

Over a year ago I was due a smear and had a letter to book an appointment. I generally planned to but never got round to it. 6 months ago I got another and again stuck it on the fridge with all good intentions of booking an appointment but never did. Then about 3 months ago I started to experience discomfort and spotting and totally dismissed it. Then the next month after the same and then again the next month. It took me 3 months of getting this every month before making an appointment. I just kept shrugging it of (stupid I know).

Now I've just had my results back and I have an abnormal result. Now this is OK it happens to one in 20 women and at this stage is not cancerous, however left undetected over years it can become serious. So I now have to wait 6 months and have another to find out if I need treatment. I've very lucky to have had some signs making me book my appointment and whether I need treatment or not in 6 months I know I'll be fine, phew!! But what about you? Are you due a smear? Get it booked ladies and be good to yourself

Love Kirsty x

Its been playing on my mind to book one, and I keep putting it off and thinking I'll do it after my next period etc. I should definitely do it tho, as my mum went through a similar thing as you are and had cancerous cells show up and had to have a d and c. If I don't do it Kirsty I give you permission to keep on at me :) Hope everything goes well for you hun and thank you for sharing this with us. xxx
