Losing weight is not just great for the obvious, but also has many numerous other advantages. By adopting a structured nutritional and lifestyle programme, losing weight gradually will of course help reduce fat content but also losing weight under a carefully managed programme can benefit the rest of your body by:
- Increased energy.
- Increased sleep.
- Increased mood.
- Improved skin/complexion.
- Improved allergic responses.
- Improved digestion.
- Reduced PMS symptoms.
- Reduced hot flushes.
- Improved blood pressure.
- Improved joint comfort.
Weight loss isn't easy though. There are a number of stumbling blocks to get over....
It's not as simple as just reducing the wrong types of food or worse still not eating at all! I see a number of patients who have tried the various “trendy” diets; that simply may lose weight initially but not long-term and some that can cause other problems in the body.
There are other aspects to think about......
Lets take for example hormone imbalances such as excess insulin, too much of the stress hormone cortisol and thyroid hormones. An imbalance of these will increase weight and prevent weight loss. Another key and often overlooked aspect is food sensitivities and allergies, reactions to allergic or sensitive foods causes an “inflammation” in the body which leads to body fat.
So here is my 6 tips for losing weight:
